Elected Officers

The following are SWEA’s elected Officers, which receive a stipend.

John Hackett – President


John Hackett has been a Social Studies teacher at SWHS for 30 years. He has served as the SWEA President since 2006.  Previous to this John served as the Co-Chair and then Chair of the Grievance committee.  John has attended the CEA-RA on 10 occasions and the NEA-RA 5 times. In 2014 he was recognized by the NEA for Political Activism on the local level. He has also served SWEA on 4 Contract Negotiation teams, and 2 Constitution and Bylaw revision committees.  John has presented at CEA Summer Leadership for the New Presidents track in addition to serving on a CEA committee to review the function of Uniserve Representatives. John’s current term expires in June 2019.

Anne Albert – Vice President


Anne Albert is a Physical Education Teacher at Orchard Hill Elementary School.  She started in SWEA as a Building Representative and has served as Secretary for the last 10 years.  She has attended CEA-RA as a delegate 4 times and attended numerous County Councils held by CEA over the past 8 years.  Anne is also active in the Annual Golf Tournament and fund raiser for Scholarships and has done so since its inception.  Her current term expires in June 2019.

Bill Myers – Treasurer


Bill Myers has taught music for 19 in South Windsor.  He’s been SWEA’s treasurer for 15 years. Bill’s been to the CEA-RA a dozen times and to the NEA-RA once. He’s been on CEA’s Retirement Commission for over a dozen years and is now the Vice-Chair. He’s been of the State Teachers Retirement Board since 2009, serving now as the Vice-Chair. Bill’s presented on Retirement issues in Boston, MA, attended Public Pension Forum’s in NYC and will present at Berkeley, CA this August.  Bill’s current term expires in June 2019.

Wanda Ward – Secretary


Wanda Ward has been a Special Education Resource Teacher at Pleasant Valley for 21 years. She has served as a building SWEA representative for many years. Wanda has also attended several CEA-RAs and 2 NEA-RAs as well as CEA Summer Leaderships Conferences. She assisted with 3 SWEA Golf Tournaments that helped raise funds for scholarships. Her current term expires June 2019.
